Vietnam Resources

Vietnam is endowed with a wide variety of mineral with over 5000 deposits of more than 60 types of minerals being discovered, including bauxite 7% of the world’s reserves), rare earths, tungsten (Nui Phao tungsten accounts for 30% of the world total supply), titanium, phosphate, coal and iron-ore, mineral construction materials.... Nui Phao is the largest single fluorite mine outside of the two major sources (China and Mexico) accounting for 6-7% of total global supply of fluorspar. However, with the exception of coal and tungsten, the majority of current mining projects in the country are small or medium in scope, representing an untapped opportunity for development on a larger scale. With more modern exploration, Vietnam can find more resources.

According to statistics of the first six months of 2015, mining continue to be a sector which has significant contribution to GDP (the third biggest contributor) and has high growth rate of 8.15%.

Further, the ownership for metals and minerals, especially in the minor metals space, is highly fragmented. This creates an opportunity for us to consolidate the sector and de-risk the industry by deriving efficiencies through scale.
